Identification of a Cluster of Additional FLC-like Genes in the Arabidopsis Genome
To maximize reproductive success, plants have evolved complex mechanisms to ensure that flowering occurs
under favorable conditions. Analysis of late-flowering mutants and ecotypes in Arabidopsis has revealed that
such mechanisms depend upon several genetic pathways that might contain 80 or more genes. Together these
loci coordinate flowering time with environmental variables and with the developmental state of the plant.
